CRISPY TOFU

Ingredients
1 block tofu
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cornstarch
2 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp turmeric
1 tsp chilli flakes
3/4 cup water
Salt
2 cups cornflakes
Oil (for frying)
1. Start off by crushing your cornflakes: place the cornflakes in a ziplock bag and seal. Grind/crush using a rolling pin until an even consistency is reached.
2. Drain and press the tofu block – getting rid of the excess liquid.
3. Cut tofu into cubes.
4. Add the flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, turmeric, chilli flakes and salt to a bowl to make the batter.
5. Add water to the bowl until a smooth (liquid) consistency is formed. Slowly add more water (in small increments) until that consistency is reached.
6. Coat the tofu in this batter.
7. Roll the tofu blocks in the cornflakes for a crispy outside.
8. Fry in a pan with olive oil (on medium heat) until golden brown and crispy. Ensure all sides cook.
9. Once frying is complete, transfer tofu to a plate with paper towels to remove excess oil.
10. Then season fried tofu with salt for extra flavour.
