Would you try BBQ tofu? It’s literally as simple as dressing up a regular BBQ sauce with some spices and flavoring then baking it in the oven.
BAKED BBQ TOFU
Serves 2
300g extra firm tofu, pressed for 10 mins
BBQ Sauce – these are rough estimates, taste as you go and adjust to your preference ☺️
1/3 cup bbq sauce
1/2 tsp granulated onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp sriracha
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (check it’s vegan friendly – traditional varieties have anchovies)
1/4 tsp mustard powder
METHOD
1. Preheat oven to 400F. Fillet tofu on the diagonal, being careful not to cut all the way through. I did this on both sides in opposite directions for effect, but just filleting on one side is also fine.
2. Brush tofu with BBQ sauce and bake for approximately 20 mins, brush with extra sauce half way through. Brush with sauce once more then move under the grill on high for 5-10 more minutes until the edges are slightly crispy and very sticky.
3. Top with a little extra sauce straight out of the oven. Cut into portions and serve immediately with greens.
